STEM Lantern Mathematics · Saskatoon

Math Tutoring in Saskatoon for Grades K–12

Every child needs a different kind of challenge. Whether your child needs stronger foundations, more challenge than school can provide, or preparation for mathematics competitions, STEM Lantern builds a personalized path from what they know now to what they are ready to learn next.

Three Math Pathways

Primary academic pathways are Math Essentials and Advanced Math. Competition Math is an optional specialized track that can complement either one.

PRIMARY PATHWAY

Math Essentials

Master the mathematics your child needs for school.

$149.99/month

1 × 60-minute session/week

Math Essentials helps students strengthen foundational skills, close prerequisite gaps, reinforce what they are learning in school, and build lasting confidence. Instruction begins with what the student actually knows, not simply the grade printed on their report card.

  • Need reinforcement on current school topics
  • Have gaps from earlier grades
  • Want stronger fundamentals and lasting understanding
  • Need homework or test support where offered
  • Are keeping up but want deeper clarity

Repair gaps → reconnect to current school mathematics → progress.

PRIMARY PATHWAY

Advanced Math

Go deeper. Faster. Further.

$199.99/month

2 × 60-minute sessions/week

Advanced Math is not simply extra worksheets or harder questions from the same grade. Students work with reasoning, connections, applications, and challenging problems. Different strands can sit at different levels; for example, a student may work above grade in algebra while still strengthening another area.

  • DeeperBeyond procedures into reasoning, connections, applications, and challenging mathematical problems.
  • FasterStudents who demonstrate mastery do not have to wait for the normal classroom pace before progressing.
  • FurtherStudents may move beyond their current grade level into later mathematics when prerequisites and readiness support it.

SPECIALIZED TRACK

Competition Math

Think beyond ordinary school problems.

$249.99/month

2 × 60-minute sessions/week

Competition Math develops non-routine problem-solving skills used in mathematics contests, including logical reasoning, number theory, combinatorics, geometry, spatial reasoning, pattern recognition, strategy, and mathematical justification.

It is a separate reasoning pathway and can combine with Math Essentials or Advanced Math where appropriate. Preparation supports local, national, and international mathematics competitions.

How Progress Is Measured

Progress is not measured only by hours attended. STEM Lantern tracks learning evidence so instruction stays matched to your child.

Skills Mastered

STEM Lantern tracks which skills your child has shown they can use reliably.

Growth From Assessment

Progress is measured from the starting picture created by the Math assessment, not hours attended alone.

Retention

Previously learned skills are checked again so knowledge stays usable over time.

Independence and Support

Instructors note how much guidance is needed as your child works through new material.

Progress Toward Goals

The learning path adapts as evidence changes so instruction stays aimed at your child's goals.

K–12 Coverage

The same STEM Lantern Mathematics system supports students from Kindergarten and Grade 1 through Grade 12. Learning is personalized to readiness while staying aligned with Saskatchewan mathematics expectations.

A math tutor in Saskatoon should meet your child where they are. STEM Lantern maps skills across the full Grades K–12 math journey so personalized math instruction can move at the right pace for each learner.

  • Number sense and operations
  • Fractions and decimals
  • Ratios and proportional reasoning
  • Algebra
  • Geometry and measurement
  • Functions
  • Statistics and probability

Choose the Learning Format That Fits Your Family

The active paid programme or membership determines the paid weekly Math session entitlement. Assessment and instructor placement then determine the Academic mode (Math Essentials or Advanced Math). Competition Math is a parallel specialized track, not a third Academic mode.

MathCode Fusion and MathCode Mastery can include Math, Coding, or both. When Math is included, that membership supplies the weekly Math sessions; a separate Math Essentials, Advanced Math, or Competition Math enrolment is not required. Students use the same STEM Lantern Math curriculum.

Already Combining Math and Coding?

Children enrolled through MathCode Fusion or MathCode Mastery receive the same personalized STEM Lantern Math pathway, progress tracking, and skill-based instruction whenever Math is included. That membership determines the paid weekly Math session entitlement. Assessment and instructor placement determine the Academic mode.

Math Programs FAQ

What is the difference between Math Essentials and Advanced Math?

Math Essentials focuses on the mathematics your child needs for school: closing gaps, reinforcing current topics, and building strong fundamentals. Advanced Math goes deeper into reasoning and applications, moves faster when mastery is shown, and can progress further into later mathematics when readiness supports it.

Can my child work above their school grade?

Yes, when assessment evidence and prerequisite skills show readiness. Placement follows what your child knows, not only the grade on their report card. Different strands can sit at different levels.

What happens if the assessment finds gaps from earlier grades?

Those gaps become part of the learning map. Instructors repair missing prerequisites first, then reconnect your child to current school mathematics so progress is durable.

Is Competition Math the same as Advanced Math?

No. Competition Math is a separate reasoning pathway for non-routine contest-style problem solving. It can complement Math Essentials or Advanced Math; it does not replace your child's primary academic Math pathway.

Can my child take both Math and Coding?

Yes. Memberships such as MathCode Fusion and MathCode Mastery can include Math, Coding, or both, depending on how sessions are allocated. The active paid programme or membership determines the paid weekly Math session entitlement. Assessment and instructor placement determine the Academic mode. MathCode Fusion and MathCode Mastery with Math use the same STEM Lantern Math curriculum.

Do you support high-school mathematics?

Yes. STEM Lantern Mathematics supports learners through Grade 12, including senior topics such as functions, pre-calculus, and calculus where appropriate.

Is the programme aligned with Saskatchewan mathematics?

Yes. Instruction is aligned with Saskatchewan mathematics expectations while remaining personalized to each learner's skill map and readiness.
